ABOUT TITAN AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Student Titan Ambassador program is a student leadership opportunity for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Oglethorpe Charter School.  It was established by Nicole Wofford Dillon, an English Language Arts teacher at Oglethorpe, and officially approved by the administrative team.  The organization officially inducted qualified and selected students on January 15, 2020.   Eighteen awesome leaders were the first members of the Titan Ambassador program.  

Selected Titan Ambassadors serve as role models within the school and community by exhibiting “Titan Way” leadership skills based on our guiding principles within the handbook.  The goal of the program is to recognize student leaders within the school building.  Titan Ambassadors educate prospective students, new students, families, school groups, and the general public on the programs, resources and student life at Oglethorpe Charter School.  Titan Ambassadors are also responsible for fostering a sense of community and positive relationships among the student body.  Student Ambassadors thrive on maintaining the integrity of Oglethorpe Charter School.

Titan Ambassadors (TA) serve as an essential component of Oglethorpe Charter School. Ambassadors will be charged with several responsibilities among the student body and within the community.  

(TA’s) are expected to: NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED! 

  • Maintain an “80” average or higher in all subjects (GPA). (Probation period before membership reconsideration)  
  • Have NO (ODR) forms submitted to Dr. Kolman’s office (non-negotiable)
  • Abide by student code of conduct. Demonstrate leadership among student body as a role model following the “The Titan Way.” (failure to do so will result in the removal of badge as a Titan Ambassador)
  • Attend scheduled Ambassador training (Saturdays and as scheduled): Any absence without an approved hardship would result in the ambassador’s immediate removal. Train new students, challenging students and all students on “The Titan Way”
  • Serve as a welcoming committee to visitors, students, parents, staff, etc.
  • Conduct tours of the school (must be knowledgeable of programs offered, background, etc)
  • Participate in open house events as greeters and speak to prospective parents and students
  • Serve as role models within the school and community following the “Titan Way” (responsibility, honesty, integrity…)
  • Participate and plan community service projects
  • Lead and/or participate on a committee
  • Participate as a trainer for new ambassadors
  • Show leadership and support with school awareness initiatives such as; Red Ribbon week, Spirit Week, etc.

Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the following list. Titan Ambassadors will be required to extend duties and responsibilities upon request.

There are many benefits to becoming a Titan Ambassador. 

  • Develop leadership skills necessary in life
  • Develop and/or sharpen communication and public speaking skills
  • Improve interpersonal skills
  • Enhance confidence in being a beacon among peers, within the school and community
  • Develop networking skills
  • Encourage and enhance work ethics and responsibility

The Titan Ambassador Blazer

  • On designated days, (TA’s) of Oglethorpe Charter School will wear a blazer in addition to their uniform. (with consent from Advisor only) The blazer represents professionalism and leadership. “Coat of Honor”
  • The blazer will include the Titan Ambassador badge of honor.
  • Selected Titan Ambassadors are responsible for purchasing his/her approved Blazer (information to do so will follow membership acceptance) Oglethorpe Charter School is NOT responsible for damages and/or care of Blazer.
  • Each (TA) must maintain a clean Coat of Honor during membership. (follow care instructions provided at the time of purchase)
  • Should a (TA’s) membership be revoked, he/she will NOT be refunded for the purchase of his/her blazer.

Blazers should not be worn during Structured Free-Time (SFT), club projects, in class activities involving the use of glue, etc. Members are advised to properly remove Blazer and store safely until the completion of activity.
