Volunteer Program
At Oglethorpe Charter School parental involvement is considered to be a vital component
contributing to our students' success. Class visits are always welcome. Please sign
in at the Office and get a nametag.
Keeping families informed is a priority at Oglethorpe Charter School. We do this
through:
- Wednesday Folders which include Volunteer Sheets and Notes from the Principal
- Monthly calendars
- Quarterly newsletters
- Mid-quarter Progress Reports
- Report Cards
- Mandatory Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Web Page
Parental support of our program includes meeting the following expectations:
- Parents are expected to supervise homework, provide a place and time for homework
to be completed, and help students develop the necessary time-management skills
to complete all assignments on time.
- Parents are expected to schedule all conferences. Please do not stop teachers
in the hall or in classrooms before, during, or immediately after school hours,
as that time is for students.
- Parents are expected to send students to school in dress code.
- Parents are expected to support the conduct code.
- Parents are expected to complete all volunteer hours by May 1st.
Our volunteer program provides parents with an unprecedented opportunity for involvement
in the structure and operation of the school. We require and encourage family participation.
Parents have opportunities to chair or serve on committees, assist in the classroom,
serve as team coaches, mentors, speakers, and governing board members.
